Your One-Stop College Resource Guide

iStock_000004069501XSmall.jpg We know applying to college can be outrageously stressful, time-consuming and frustrating. That’s why we put together this college resource guide. These websites will provide you with everything you need to know- tuition and financial aid info, what real students think about their schools, information on the SATs- even which colleges and universities offer full-time kosher meal plans. So no more aimlessly Googling to figure out all that information- just check out these web resources:

Hillel.org
Consider Hillel the mother ship of all resources on Jewish life in college. We think you might find the following two Hillel sites particularly helpful:

  • Hillel's Guide to Jewish Life on Campus: Have you ever wondered how many schools within a 10-mile radius of Los Angeles offer kosher dining options on Shabbat? Here's your answer! Search by location, type of college, Jewish population, Jewish amenities offered and more. This comprehensive search engine can help you narrow down your college pool with the simple click of a mouse.
  • Hillel's Financial Aid Guide: In tough economic times like these, this guide should come in particularly handy. On this site, Hillel links you to dozens of financial aid resources- conveniently broken down by region- that gift and lend money especially to Jewish college students.

Keshercollege.org
This is the Union for Reform Judaism’s official college program. You’ll love and appreciate its comprehensive website, which is full of college resources, blogs and even info on alternative winter and spring break trips.

NewVoices.org
If you’re Jewish and you’re a student, this monthly web publication is for you. Written entirely by and for Jewish students, New Voices is the national Jewish student magazine and covers everything from current events in Israel to Jewish cultural happenings right here in the U.S.

ClickCollegeTV.com
This new website boasts an impressive collection of online interviews conducted with students at more than 200 of the nation’s top colleges and universities. Plus check out its exhaustive “Top Five” lists for everything from “Largest Jewish Population” to “Least Debt Upon Graduation.”

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2009
We warn you not to make too much of the rankings on this website, but definitely take advantage of the exhaustive info they provide on nearly every school in the U.S. Want to know tuition costs? Acceptance rates? Here’s your website.

College Board
Chances are if you’ve taken or are going to take the SATs (don’t cringe!), you’ve seen this website. But aside from being good for checking your scores and sending them to schools, this site is also a great general resource. You can get info on how to plan for college, find the best one for you, apply to your top choices and pay for school.
