Temple Beth-El owns and manages a private cemetery for its members. The cemetery is located approximately 5 miles from the Temple on Dutchess Turnpike in Poughkeepsie. Members in good standing are entitled to a burial plot as a part of their membership. Plots are not sold to non-members and only people who are Jewish or have successfully converted to Judaism may be buried there. In 2010 we opened an interfaith burial area.
At the time of burial the usual and prevailing grave opening and Funeral Director fees will apply.
The Cemetery is open at all times. It sits up on a hill, is secluded and very private. The grounds are kept beautifully year round and people enjoy going there to visit, sit and meditate.
Reservations for specific plots can be made in advance for a small fee. Members should feel free to contact a member of the Cemetery committee with questions or requests. Contact the Temple office and they will have a committee member call them.
